Lady's Linen Shirt
This shirt is based upon extant shirts of the late sixteenth century, with an emphasis on those shirts in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Costume Museum in Bath. Each shirt has a front opening, straight band collar and cuffs, and side gores and underarm gussets for room. It is made of white handkerchief weight linen, with linen cloth ties at the collar and cuffs. Internal seams are finished, either as Bound or French seams, and there is minimal visible stitching externally.

Bands of blackwork embroidery by Lady Maerwynn Renascence Flair are also available for the collar and cuffs. Five designs, based upon extant garments, period blackwork samplers, or period portraiture, are currently available. Click on each design name for a graphic of the embroidery.
